[ right, jon still doesn't know why the fight broke out to begin with, but given who he had been looking for when he found them in the hallway, it's not hard to put the pieces together. he understands feeling powerless especially in hell, and he understands doing anything and everything to try to protect a sibling. ]

...they have Waverly. [ there's a slight pause, because they weren't dragged, and he wants to make that clear. ] There's nothing else we would have done than join with you in battle.

[ they're all protective older siblings. they all understand that pull: the responsibility. they've all reacted in reckless and inadvisable ways to protect their family, and they've all failed. what would they not give, were it jeremy or the starks? and beyond that, it's waverly. she's family now, too. ]

He's right.

[ elena speaks after pulling in a steadying breath. she may have healed their most critical wounds, but they're still bloody and beaten. and her answer is unchanged. ] Wynonna, there was no other choice.

Still, if you had gotten actually punished for my recklessness -- I knew it was a long shot...but I had to try. Barbas is even worse than Lucifer, which I can't believe I'm saying but here we are. Waverly doesn't deserve whatever he's doing to her.

(probably, nobody does, but waverly will always be her first priority. at least it's something the others understand. because they're family too. she'd fight for them too.)

I know everyone says we need to be smart and wait and come up with a plan but none of those things are my strong point.

[ jon swallows and then shakes his head, thinking back to the strategy he'd built with an entire army that all went out the window the moment he saw rickon. he doesn't know if he should mention that because it ended so poorly. it would not be reassuring in a time like this when her own younger sibling is in danger, but he does know what it is like. waverly is being tortured now- they all know it without knowing the details. it's a horrible thing to sit with. ]

Plans crumble when you know your family is in danger, especially... a sister or brother. It's worse when you see it, when they're so near. Few could resist reacting even against impossible odds. [ he glances at elena, meeting her gaze. ] We knew the risk too. [ it was theirs to make. ]

[ elena is, in fact, one of those people who tried to think of the smartest course of action: a fool-proof plan, as if such a thing exists her. but not the best plan in the world is worth waverly and others getting hurt. for better and for worse, she is ruled by her heart and this is not right.

she can't expect wynonna to sit back and do nothing while waverly is suffering. ]

We did. We're in this together, all of us. [ hurting one of them is hurting all of them, that's what you do for your friends. ]

(if jon had told his story, she would have understood. as much as wynonna wanted to, she couldn't save willa in the end. the only way to save her was to kill her -- what would her friends think of her if they knew? she knows both jon and elena come from worlds with no win situations....but still.)

We are. And I was glad you guys came in when you did -- I would have been fucked and not in the fun way if you guys hadn't joined in.

[ jon frowns as he looks down between the three of them, thinking back to the fight, to how he lost all control and snapped in anger to see- to see elena hurt and know wynonna was in danger too. in the end, he wouldn't have stopped anything at all only postponed it perhaps, which is what they ultimately needed but they had no way of knowing they would be saved. it's a sobering reminder. ]

I believe we were all nearly fucked... in the not fun way. [ he saw red so brightly that he hadn't even realized who was leading them away, and he glances at elena. ] Were those the ones we helped?

[ elena gives a nod by way of confirmation. ]

Three of them.

[ not the rest. the other demons she knows, but they weren't at the heart of the attack, so she has no explanation. she looks to wynonna, as they haven't had a chance to tell her or waverly, but it's right up team human's alley. ] The Veiled Order tried to kidnap some of those demons earlier. Jon and I were able to stop them before they could. [ but it's still... it's not good. they have enough to deal with. the veiled order on top of it is not needed. ]

A couple were ones I've befriended. I didn't save them or anything -- but I've been trying to make friends with them. They seem to hate Barbas as much as we all do. That might be useful.

(in the end she had worked with the revenants against bulshar -- sometimes you have to find allies in the most unlikely of places.)

Might be the best way to return Lucifer to power with their help. They're stronger, and they're invested. We should continue to make allies out of them.

[ they have the resources that sinners aren't quite afforded even if they're trapped here too as much as they are. ]

If we can do that — if we can help Lucifer in that way, it might be the first time we have real leverage on our side to change things.

[ none of them want lucifer back so that they can return to his status quo, either. ]

It's true. Sometimes you have to work with an enemy to get what you want.

(wynonna doesn't like lucifer, but if they can get an upperhand....it could make for real change.)
