With care, Elena removes the bandage and that's when she sees the bite marks. For a split second, she freezes with a bruised sort of panic in her throat—but no. When she and Caroline each took one of the girls and left, Caroline was back to her self-disciplined if not heartbroken self. And Wynonna mentions a he. She looks from Wynonna and back to Waverly as realization sets in.
Some of that quiet sadness lingers in her expression as she places her hand over Waverly's neck. At first, there is only this, the steadiness of her palm against skin. But soon enough relief follows, like a stream of water trickling down parched earth. It's a cooling sort of relief, but it comes with Elena's warmth, and for a split second, Waverly will feel it, too: her deep commiseration.
Her protective affection, however useless it is now.
"You couldn't have known, either." And she means that for the both of them.
Her shoulders relax as Elena's magic washes over her, and her head clears, just a little. "We might have theorized." When Elena pulls back, she slumps back against the couch with a sigh. "It's not the first time we've seen Doc like this."
She needs to put a name to it. They need to be aware because the last time Doc was high on angel blood, so many people got hurt.
"And now his vampire-turned husband is full of angel blood too. Hopefully Homelander is stashing them somewhere where they can't hurt anyone."
Or knocking them out. She doesn't really know. She'd be lying if she said she doesn't hope they suffer a little for what happened. Wynonna never claimed to be a nice person.
Also did Elena know Doc turned Ray....well she does now.....
This is a lot. But she can add it to the growing list of things that have gone very wrong tonight and move right along. Processing is also for later. "Is your roommate going to be able to handle them both?"
A vampire is a force to be reckoned with, never mind two.
Impressive is what he is, honestly. She has no doubt that he'll be just fine, even if Doc and Ray maybe won't. But hopefully not to the point where there's no coming back.
She thinks the knot that has settled in the low of her stomach will not loosen until she checks on Doc and Ray for herself, but she does understand Homelander is the safer bet at the moment.
Waverly shrugs, because honestly she doesn't know what she needs. She needs to know that her friends are okay, she needs to know that Doc and Ray are okay, but far away from her. And ... she needs to let the frayed edges fall apart a little, and Elena doesn't need to be here for that.
"I'm okay. You can go back to Lizzie, if you need to."
She knows how important her nieces are to her, and Waverly wasn't the only person affected by tonight.
"I can take over from here. Thank you for coming to help." She reaches out to grab Elena's hand, giving it a small squeeze -- it is something she and Elena understand about one another on a deep level, that determination to protect what's theirs, no matter the cost.
Tomorrow will come and there's lot of conversations and fall out to be had, but for tonight they will survive. Sometimes, that's the best you can do.
It's with that same understanding Elena wraps her own fingers around Wynonna's as she turns to face her with a nod.
A smile, just as small, touches her lips. "Anything else and you let me know, okay?"
She knows tonight has been overwhelming in more ways than one, and everyone just needs to cope with it in what ways they can. She gives Wynonna's hand a gentle squeeze, before she slips out the door to give them some privacy.
Waverly smiles as well as she watches her go, before turning back to Wynonna with a nod. "I'm going change into something I haven't bled on and try to sleep. But promise me you'll check and see if Sara is okay?"
She was the worst off of her friends when she left her, and she wants to make sure that she didn't get into bigger trouble. And she also knows that there's probably things they should talk about, but honestly she doesn't know if she's up to talking tonight.
She wants to cry, mostly, and that's not very productive with another person.
"Of course. Are you going to be okay on your own?"
Because tonight has been a lot....and she understands if Waverly wants to be alone, but if she needs some company, her big sister is in maximum hover mode already.
Waverly nods because she's fine. She's totally fine. If she didn't seem like it, it's the blood loss. "Yeah. All good."
She at least manages to fake it until she gets halfway to her door. It's about then, that her face starts to crumble. Between the punishments and this, it feels like too much. While she can't say that past tortures haven't hit close to home before, this one is far too much.
Tears slip down her cheeks, as she turns to face her sister again. "Wynonna ..."
She buries her face against her sister's shoulder as she cries it out. It's more than just tonight, it feels like dam of all the things she's been trying to fake it through breaks. She was bound to need to let it out somewhere - might as well be here, where it's safe.
Eventually it evens down to sniffles and she pulls back, brushing her hands against her cheeks. "Thanks. Sorry."
Wynonna cradles her sister in her arms, pushing back her hair and running her fingers through it soothingly. It's the least she can do for Waverly -- she wishes she could do more.
"You have nothing to be sorry about, baby girl. Nothing, okay?"
"I know." But it feels like she should be. She looks down at her hands as she pulls them away from her face, and she shakes her head. "I was so scared I was going to have to ... take drastic measures."

"He hurt a lot of people after he drank Julian."

"He can't really get hurt except when he gets his powers taken away. It's why I recruited him."
Not just because Homelander would be strong enough to take two vampires, but because he's fairly difficult to harm as well. It was just common sense.
And if he's feeling a little bit of bloodlust tonight and takes it out on Ray and Doc....well these things happen.....

Still.
"Is there anything else I can do?"

Wynonna doesn't hesitate to run to her sister's side, wrapping her arms tightly around her sister, pressing a kiss against her forehead.
